אמ’לק: עדיין לא תולה את הבוזוקיטרה, ומתכנן להיות פ אמ’לק: עדיין לא תולה את הבוזוקיטרה, ומתכנן להיות פעיל שנים רבות; אבל זו הוקרה שמחממת את הלב. רגע לפני שמתחילים להוקיר סוכני AI על פועלם במרחב הקיברנטי במקום בני אנוש בשר ודם עם עשרות אלפי שעות בתחומיהם, ביום חמישי האחרון זכיתי להיות חלק מקבוצת אמנים ואנשי תרבות שתרומתם זכתה להוקרה מטעם עירית פתח תקווה, והונצחה בכוכב בשדרת הכוכבים של העיר. הרקע להוקרה הוא כמובן היותי מייסד משותף של להקת אורפנד לנד, הרכב ישראלי בינלאומי פורץ דרך, גבולות וממציא סגנון מוזיקלי מזה 35 שנים, יחד עם קריירת סולו ענפה - 6 אלבומי סולו, הקמת ה”אוריינטל רוק אורקסטרה”, הפקות מוזיקליות רבות בארץ ובחו”ל לתריסרי אומנים, המצאת ויצירת כלי נגינה ייחודי מסוגו (הבוזוקיטרה) שהוצג בין היתר על במת “טד”, הגשה למועמדות גראמי, הפצה דרך וורנר גרופ, 4 פרסי שלום ותרבות נוספים ועוד. תודה גדולה לכל מי שהיה מעורב בתהליך - זה מחמם את הלב ולא ברור מאליו. עירית פתח תקווה, רמי גרינברג ראש עיר. תודה למתי (סוטיצקי), אחי לדרך, שגם קיבל את הכוכב שלו, ובצדק (לא יופיטר ;)) תודה לקובי פרחי ואורי זילכה, איתם ייסדנו את להקת אורפנד לנד לפני כ-35 שנה, כנערים שלא ידעו עדיין כמה רחוק המוזיקה שלהם תגיע. תודה לאימי תמרה - תיבדל לחיים ארוכים, הרחם שזכיתי להתגלגל לעולם דרכו, ואבי דוד ז”ל - שנטע בי את התשוקה לצלילים. מעל הכל לזוגתי ובנותיי - החשובים באמת במסע הזה. @marywebersassi

For me, that artist was, and always will be, Joe Satriani. His music created so many beginnings for me, It taught me the power of melody, honesty and playing from the heart. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet him while our tours crossed paths in Europe. Happy 70th Birthday, Joe. Thank you for the music, the inspiration and for being the first! Our entire catalog lives there in one place, years of stories, experiments, collaborations, from the early sparks to where things stand today. Ceasefire has started, at least on paper, but life Ceasefire has started, at least on paper, but life has a way of reminding you that nothing is ever truly on pause. Moments like these ask something simple from us, to stay close, to hold on tighter, to not take for granted the people we love, and to remember that even a quiet day is something to be lived, not postponed. The video was captured outside Black Rock Studios in Santorini, in between takes, when the noise fades and something honest finds its way through. The piece, “Armaros Fall” is from our latest album “Prediluvian”, written and performed together with our dear friend Ross Jennings from HAKEN. There’s a sentence in there about the hardest days being the ones you wished you had never been born, and still, somehow, finding the strength to meet halfway, to return, to not leave each other behind. Take care of your loved ones. Don’t wait for a better time. Yossi Sassi & The Orchestra.
I can’t believe it’s already been 8 years. It feel I can’t believe it’s already been 8 years. It feels like another life, and at the same time everything in it keeps revealing itself as more and more relevant with each passing day. 8 years since the official release of Illusion of Choice April 4, 2018, the first album we recorded on the island of Santorini and the first official release under the Oriental Rock Orchestra. We were immersed in this idea that kept pulling us deeper, the question of free will versus destiny, of choice versus what is already written, a question that found its way into the music itself. This album became a meeting point of worlds and people I deeply admire, with Ross Jennings bringing his unique voice and presence, Ester Rada shining so powerfully on the title track, and Yoed Nir shaping the emotional landscape with his cello and string arrangements, all wrapped in the visual language created by Alona Nof. There’s also something a bit hidden in this story, a version of Choice where I sing it myself, a version that didn’t make it into the official release but still exists out there, quietly, on Bandcamp as the Black Rock version. Link in bio! Looking back now, it doesn’t feel like just an album, it feels like a moment that keeps unfolding, one that continues to echo and find new meaning every day. What’s your favorite song? Lost of special dates for the Orchestra lately! To Lost of special dates for the Orchestra lately! Today we mark 5 (!) years of “Hear & Dare”. Released on March 19, 2021, this was the second of three albums we recorded in the island of Santorini, an place that became a true creative home for us during those years. It still is. With this album we went deeper into the East meets West journey, bringing in rich and detailed arrangements of bouzouki, qanun and flutes, taking the orchestral blend to a new level at that point in time. It was a step forward in shaping the sound of the Oriental Rock Orchestra as it evolved. The album included special collaborations that meant a lot to us. The legendary Greek rocker Christos Dantis joined us, and Mats Levén (Yngwie Malmsteen, Therion, Candlemass), brought his unique voice and interpretation to the title track in a way only he can. This album holds a very specific energy. A mix of exploration, connection and the feeling of building something together, far from home and close at heart.
